Nigeria’s Super Eagles are scheduled to take on Jordan in an international friendly in Amman during the March 23–31 FIFA window, marking the first-ever senior meeting between the two nations. The match forms part of Jordan’s preparation for their debut World Cup appearance.

Nicknamed “The Chivalrous Ones,” Jordan has been drawn into a challenging World Cup group alongside defending champions Argentina, Algeria, and Austria. Reports also indicate that Iran is exploring a March fixture against Nigeria, while a potential June clash with Portugal is under consideration.

However, Nigeria’s participation in the game hinges on FIFA’s ruling on the country’s eligibility protest against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo). The petition, alleging DR Congo fielded six ineligible players during last year’s 2026 World Cup African play-offs, is set for review today.

Nigeria lost to DR Congo on penalties in Morocco, missing out on the World Cup for a second consecutive time. Should FIFA rule in Nigeria’s favour, the Super Eagles could be reinstated into the intercontinental play-offs in Mexico later this month, where one of the last World Cup spots will be decided.

Both Nigeria and DR Congo have reportedly reserved the right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if dissatisfied with FIFA’s decision. The case is being treated with exceptional caution to protect the credibility of the World Cup qualification process.
