A senior military officer from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, was fatally stabbed in Kaduna during a robbery attempt on Sunday morning.
According to the Kaduna State Police Command, the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. at a bus stop just before the Kawo flyover. The officer, whose name has not been disclosed, was a senior course student at the college.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, told Channels Television that the officer had a flat tyre and was attempting to replace it when an unidentified assailant approached and demanded his mobile phone.
When the officer refused, questioning the demand, the attacker stabbed him in the chest with a local knife.
The suspect was reportedly overpowered by bystanders, who mobbed and killed him on the spot. The wounded officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the incident, police conducted a raid in the Kawo area, arresting 13 suspects found with knives and other dangerous weapons.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing.
