Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday officially inaugurated the Irele Tower, a new nine-storey commercial complex in the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), Ibeju Lekki — Nigeria’s fastest-growing industrial corridor.
Constructed by Lagos Free Zone (LFZ), Irele Tower is the first of six planned commercial towers designed to drive economic activity within the port city hosting the nation’s deepest seaport. The development integrates commercial, administrative, and retail facilities, featuring six premium office floors, retail spaces, rooftop cafes, terraces, and a multi-level car park.
Inaugurating the project, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the power of public-private collaboration in driving socio-economic impact. He noted that the development aligns with the State Government’s vision for globally competitive markets and will expand international trade opportunities for stakeholders operating within the ecosystem.
“Irele Tower is a remarkable private sector development that strengthens Lagos State’s vision for a globally competitive industrial and commercial hub. It complements the Lekki Deep Seaport and the broader industrial corridor, providing modern commercial space for businesses in logistics, maritime trade, and export facilitation,” the Governor said.
He emphasized that the tower’s location within the free zone offers businesses direct access to global shipping routes, streamlined port-to-zone cargo movement, and proximity to Nigeria’s largest consumer and industrial markets. “Its presence is more than functional; it signals the scale and sophistication of the opportunities that come with it,” Sanwo-Olu added.
The Governor also highlighted the project’s contribution to the Blue Economy, noting that Irele Tower will enable businesses to capitalize on maritime resources, reduce logistics costs, and position Lagos as a top investment destination.
Adesuwa Ladoja, Managing Director of LFZ, revealed that construction of the tower began in September 2022, with structural work completed in 2024. The remaining ancillary facilities were finished over the next two years, making the building fully operational. She added that the project was completed in one million man-hours without a single accident, reflecting the commitment to safety and quality.
The launch of Irele Tower marks a significant milestone for Lagos’ industrial corridor, setting a benchmark for commercial infrastructure development while supporting the city’s ambitions as a global hub for maritime trade and logistics.
