Babajide Sanwo-Olu marked the 74th birthday of Bola Ahmed Tinubu by distributing 20,000 food packs to residents across Lagos State. The initiative was carried out through a symbolic ceremony at the De Blue Roof Event Centre and other locations in the 20 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.
Sanwo-Olu hailed Tinubu as an “extraordinary leader” and urged Lagosians to celebrate his achievements. “My dear people, as you receive this gift box, know that its contents are more than a token of celebration. Therein is the united voice of Lagos State, saying resoundingly, ‘We stand with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We stand with his Renewed Hope Agenda,’” he said.
The governor expressed optimism about the country’s future, noting that ongoing reforms were beginning to yield benefits. “The worst is behind us, and the best is in sight. As we look towards 2027, let us do so with optimism, confidence and conviction,” he added.
He also commended Tinubu’s legacy in transforming Lagos into a leading economic hub during his tenure as governor from 1999 to 2007.
Gbenga Omotoso described the initiative as a significant opportunity for Lagosians to celebrate the President while benefiting from a welfare programme. “It is a special day for Nigeria and particularly Lagos because today is the birthday of our President. The Governor felt Lagosians should be part of the celebration,” he said.
Tajudeen Afolabi added that the gesture reflects the administration’s commitment to residents’ welfare, describing it as “a gift of Renewed Hope” to Lagosians.
Beneficiaries praised the intervention, highlighting its timeliness amid prevailing economic challenges and commending the governor for the support.
