Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday commissioned a multi-story council secretariat complex, a new legislative chamber, and an interlocking road project in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, signaling a major boost to local governance and infrastructure.
The administrative building, named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was delivered by council chairman Hon. Abdullahi Olowa. It replaces the former secretariat that was destroyed during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.
“These impactful projects underscore our commitment to inclusive development and responsive grassroots governance,” Sanwo-Olu said. “They reflect the progress inspired by our THEMES+ agenda and the community’s determination to rebuild and thrive.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also flagged off construction on Citrus Gardens, a housing development being implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP). The project is expected to provide sustainable living options, with paved roads, security infrastructure, indoor recreation, and green spaces.
In addition, he announced further infrastructure plans, including:
- Expansion of Eleranigbe Road
- Construction of a bridge linking Sangotedo to the Lekki airport corridor
“We’ve commenced the Sangotedo Bridge across Omu Creek, and once completed, it will unlock access across this entire axis,” the governor said.
Hon. Olowa, in his remarks, emphasized that the Tinubu-named secretariat is “one of the most advanced council complexes in the country,” featuring high-speed internet and smart infrastructure aimed at fostering innovation and public service efficiency.
He also described the Citrus Gardens as a “game-changer” for local housing and economic development.
