Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has lauded the achievements of Nigerian youths on the global stage and commended Westerfield College for its contributions to nurturing young talent.
The governor spoke during a courtesy visit by the management team of Westerfield College to the State House. He praised the institution for its role in grooming students educationally, highlighting its summer camp programs and recent expansion to the United Kingdom (UK) after years of successful operations in Nigeria.
The College’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Dosunmu, led the delegation as part of activities marking Westerfield College’s first anniversary as a wholly owned Nigerian school operating in the UK. The visit also coincides with the institution’s participation in the International Education Fair (IEF) and the School Leaders and Teachers Conference (SLTC 2026).
Westerfield College, a leading Sixth Form institution with campuses in Nigeria and the UK, made history last year as the first wholly African-owned school to expand offshore into the UK—a milestone celebrated by Sanwo-Olu at the official launch held at the British High Commissioner’s residence.
During the visit, Westerfield College reaffirmed its commitment to fostering educational linkages between Nigeria and the UK, while continuing to provide globally competitive educational opportunities for Nigerian students and families.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the College’s efforts in empowering Nigerian youth and expressed optimism about the future of international education collaboration.
