Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara Officially Joins APC, Receives Membership Card

Governor Fubara cites unity, development, and political stability as key reasons for joining the ruling party.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after receiving his party membership card at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The Rivers State APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, representing APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, presented the card to Governor Fubara on Friday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Fubara explained that his decision to join the APC is aimed at promoting unity and accelerating development in Rivers State.

“Aligning with the ruling party at the federal level became necessary to ensure political stability and to fast-track development across the state,” Fubara said. He added that supporting President Bola Tinubu is not only a political alignment but also a recognition of the President’s efforts in sustaining Rivers State government through challenging times.

The Governor emphasized that uniting under one political family with the federal government provides a clearer path to strengthen the APC and ensure a smooth political journey into 2027. He pledged to maintain Rivers State as a stronghold for the party and to meet the needs of the APC leadership across the state.

Fubara also thanked leaders and supporters for their continued support, urging them to increase their commitment as the state enters a new phase of political consolidation and development.

In his remarks, Yilwatda, represented by Okocha, congratulated the governor on his bold move, describing it as patriotic and in the best interest of Rivers State. He said Fubara’s entry into the APC marks a new chapter for unity among the state’s political leaders.

The event was attended by senior party figures, including Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who was also the guest of Governor Fubara for the commissioning of the Ikwerre Road–Igwiruta–Airport Road project and the flag-off of a bypass construction to improve access to communities around Port Harcourt International Airport.
