The Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, citing the numerous Federal Government projects attracted to the state under his administration.
The endorsement was made during the 37th Legislative Session of the House through a motion signed by 26 lawmakers and read at plenary by the House Leader, Mr Major Jack (Akuku-Toru).
The lawmakers said their decision was borne out of appreciation for the President’s interventions in the state and a desire to ensure continuity in governance.
They recalled the role played by President Tinubu during the intense political crisis in Rivers State, describing his actions as a fatherly intervention that helped restore calm and stability.
According to the House, the President’s determination to ensure peace in the state was a clear demonstration of his love and concern for Rivers people.
The lawmakers also commended Tinubu for appointing notable indigenes of the state into key positions of trust at the federal level, noting that the gesture has strengthened ties between the state and the Federal Government while boosting the morale of politicians in Rivers.
Responding to the motion, the Speaker of the House, Mr Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor I), described President Tinubu as a compassionate leader committed to repositioning Nigeria on the path of growth and development.
He also lauded the strategic economic policies of the Tinubu-led administration, describing them as impactful and people-oriented.
The lawmakers further vowed to mobilise grassroots support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
