President Tinubu to Sign Four Landmark Tax Bills into Law Today

These bills were passed by the National Assembly after extensive consultations with various stakeholders and interest groups.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, Thursday, sign four major tax reform bills into law in a move the Presidency says will “transform Nigeria’s fiscal and revenue framework.”

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Wednesday evening titled “President Tinubu signs four tax bills into law tomorrow.”

The four bills are:

  • Nigeria Tax Bill
  • Nigeria Tax Administration Bill
  • Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill
  • Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill

“When the new tax laws become operational, they are expected to significantly transform tax administration in the country,” Onanuga said. “This will lead to increased revenue generation, an improved business environment, and a boost in both domestic and foreign investments.”

The signing ceremony will take place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Present at the event will be top lawmakers, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sani Musa, and House Finance Committee Chairman James Faleke.
