President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is back in the country today after spending nearly two weeks on a working visit abroad. His return was confirmed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
In a brief post shared Monday morning on the social media platform X, Onanuga wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return home today.”
Tinubu had departed Nigeria on April 2, 2025, for Paris. The Presidency described the trip as a working visit aimed at reviewing his administration’s mid-term performance and evaluating progress on key government milestones. He later traveled to London for a brief stay.
Despite his absence, the Presidency assured Nigerians that the President remained actively involved in national governance. In a statement last Thursday, Onanuga emphasized that Tinubu had maintained “constant communication with key government officials” and was fully engaged in high-level decision-making.
“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering,” the statement read. “He issued critical directives to security chiefs and followed up on emerging threats across the country.”
The Presidency noted that Tinubu’s return on April 21 falls in line with the previously communicated timeframe for his overseas visit.
Officials reiterated that governance continued smoothly in his absence, with all structures of government functioning effectively.
