The Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is set to make a national broadcast on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 7 am.
Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are expected to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.
The National broadcast comes on the heels of protests accross the nation following the inability of many to access the new Naira notes either from the banks or point of sales and financial services outlets accross the country.
The February 10th deadline for the use of old naira notes as legal has led to many experiencing challenges to either conduct business or simply make personal transactions.
The city of Ibadan was practically on standstill yesterday as roadblocks and bonfires were mounted at strategic locations accross the city leading to hardship and Inability for many to either move around with ease or get to their destinations. This is just one out of the many incidences of protests accross the country.
Many say the decision of the President to address the nation is a welcome development in the face of these protests, as it is hoped that it will put to rest questions as to whether the old Naira notes remain a legal tender or not.
