American golfer, Peter Malnati, has secured his long-awaited return to the winner’s circle by capturing the Valspar Championship title in Palm Harbor, Florida.
With a final round score of four-under-par 67, the 36-year-old finished the tournament at 12 under, earning himself not only the championship trophy but also a coveted spot in the upcoming Masters tournament at Augusta.
This victory marked Malnati’s first PGA Tour win in nearly nine years, since his triumph at the Sandersons Farms Championship in November 2015.
The seasoned golfer showcased his skills on the final day, clinching the title with a two-stroke lead over his closest competitor, Cameron Young, who stumbled with a bogey on the last hole.
Malnati’s stellar performance throughout the tournament, including five crucial birdies on the final day, propelled him to victory and ensured his participation in one of golf’s most prestigious events, the Masters. Chandler Phillips and Canada’s Mackenzie Hughes also delivered strong performances, finishing tied for third in the competition.
