Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to full training with Galatasaray after recovering from the ankle injury he sustained on international duty with Nigeria.
The 26-year-old forward joined his teammates in training drills on Sunday ahead of Galatasaray’s Super Lig clash against Konyaspor at Rams Park. Although he did not feature in the game, his return is seen as a major boost for the Turkish champions.
Osimhen had been sidelined since September 6, when he picked up an ankle injury during Nigeria’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. The knock forced him to miss Galatasaray’s 5-1 Champions League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt and their Super Lig win over Eyupspor.
Reports from Ajansspor confirm that the striker completed several drills with his teammates and added personal exercises during the session. Galatasaray initially targeted his return for their Champions League clash with Liverpool on September 30.
Head coach Okan Buruk previously admitted uncertainty over Osimhen’s readiness, stressing that the player’s recovery feedback was vital. “The health of our players is very important to us,” he said.
The Nigerian international, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli this summer, has already scored twice in three league games. His return to action is expected to strengthen the team’s domestic and European campaigns.
