Artificial intelligence startup OpenAI has surpassed $25 billion in annualised revenue as of the end of last month, according to a report by The Information.
The figure represents a 17 percent increase from the $21.4 billion in annualised revenue the company reported at the end of last year, reflecting the rapid growth of the AI industry.
Since late 2022, OpenAI has expanded dramatically, moving from virtually zero revenue to more than $20 billion in annualised revenue by 2025. The company is best known for developing the widely used AI chatbot ChatGPT.
As part of its growth strategy, OpenAI is now focusing heavily on the enterprise market. The company has partnered with four of the world’s largest consulting firms to help corporate clients move beyond experimental AI projects and deploy large-scale artificial intelligence systems across their operations.
However, OpenAI faces strong competition in the enterprise AI space. Rivals such as Anthropic and tech giants including Google are also aggressively selling AI capabilities to businesses worldwide.
Anthropic has experienced similar growth, reaching roughly $9 billion in annualised revenue as demand for advanced AI tools continues to surge.
Looking ahead, OpenAI is targeting approximately $600 billion in total computing investment through 2030 as it expands its infrastructure and AI capabilities.
The company is also reportedly laying the groundwork for a future public offering that could value the firm at up to $1 trillion, positioning it among the most valuable technology companies globally.
