Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her commitment to youth empowerment through education with the commissioning of ten new Digital Learning Centres across the country.
The commissioning, conducted virtually from the State House, Abuja, was announced on Wednesday in a statement shared on X by the Presidency. The initiative forms part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, designed to equip young Nigerians with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
The new centres are located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara States, and were developed in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Senator Tinubu explained that the project is aimed at closing the gap between classroom learning and real-world technological application, noting that it is “not just about providing computers and internet access,” but about nurturing creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
She emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader developmental agenda, which focuses on building a knowledge-driven economy and expanding access to digital resources regardless of location or social status.
“Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, we are ensuring that no community is left behind in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey,” she said.
The First Lady encouraged young Nigerians to embrace diligence, hard work, compassion, unity, and patience as they prepare to take advantage of new opportunities enabled by government reforms.
She further highlighted that the Digital Learning Project supports inclusive growth and human capital development, ensuring that even underserved communities can actively participate in the global digital economy.
