The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has extended warm birthday wishes to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as he marked his 78th birthday, describing him as an “elder brother, boss, and elder statesman.”
In a congratulatory message shared on his X handle on Tuesday, Obi commended Atiku’s decades of service to the country and lauded his commitment to public engagement, even at an advanced age.
“Special birthday wishes to an elder statesman, my very dear elder brother, boss, and elder statesman, Your Excellency Atiku Abubakar,” Obi wrote.
He prayed for continued achievements, good health, and longevity for the former vice president, adding:
“I wish you continued success, prosperity, and an unending stream of accolades. It takes a remarkable kind of fortitude to remain active in public life well into one’s golden years. Your dedication and patriotism remain truly exceptional.”
Obi further urged Atiku to reflect on his long-standing contributions to humanity and prayed that God grants him “wisdom, strength, and the grace to keep contributing to peace and nation-building.”
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, also joined in the tributes. In a congratulatory statement, the governor celebrated Atiku’s service to Nigeria and the pride he brings to his home state.
“Happy birthday to our distinguished elder statesman, Waziri Adamawa, H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Your contributions to our nation and our dear Adamawa State remain a source of pride,” Fintiri said.
He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings, wishing Atiku good health, wisdom, and many more years of impactful service to humanity.
