An investigation launched by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) is underway following the crash-landing of a Diamond training aircraft operated by the Aviation Training School, Ilorin/
According to the Bureau, the aircraft, which was conducting a training flight, lost directional control on Runway 05 at approximately 17:28 local time, veering off into the grass verge.
Both occupants on board sustained serious injuries and were swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility, with the evacuation coordinated by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
In swift response, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has activated its Go-Team, which is preparing to depart from Abuja to Ilorin for an on-site investigation.
The team’s primary goal is to secure the crash site, gather physical evidence, conduct interviews, and recover flight and technical data to determine the root cause of the incident.
Director General of NSIB Captain Alex Badeh Jr., stated:
“We extend our heartfelt thoughts to the injured individuals and commend the swift response of emergency teams. Each incident presents a crucial opportunity to learn and strengthen aviation safety—and this case is no exception.”
