The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has renewed its commitment to the International Federation of Engineering Societies (IFES), reaffirming support for its mission within the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
This pledge was delivered by Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, President and Chairman-in-Council of NSE, during a closed-door meeting of IFES founding members at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Chengdu, China.
The strategic session brought together global engineering leaders to shape an inclusive platform for collaboration, with focus areas including engineering innovation, infrastructure resilience, and sustainable development.
As a founding member of IFES, the NSE’s active participation highlights Nigeria’s increasing global engineering influence and its dedication to international cooperation.
“A one-size-fits-all approach may not effectively address the unique realities and challenges faced by different countries. IFES must be intentional in responding to those differences,” said Engr. Oguntala.
Representing the NSE at the meeting was Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, FNSE, Chairman of the NSE Abeokuta Branch and member of the Academy Committee of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO).
Engr. Idowu had also represented the Society during the landmark 2024 agreement to join IFES at the International Engineering Congress.
