The outgoing Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Chris Hassan, says he has no regrets leading the party back to power after years in opposition.
Speaking at a press briefing in Jos on Friday to mark the end of his tenure, Hassan expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the current PDP administration led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
“We have no regrets returning the PDP to power, and the current administration under the party is doing well,” he said.
Hassan, who became chairman in 2021 when the state was under the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Simon Lalong, was joined at the event by members of the state executive, including Senator Napoleon Bali.
He thanked the media for their support, noting that their objective coverage gave the PDP “visibility and voice” during his tenure.
Highlighting the party’s electoral victories, Hassan noted that under his leadership, the PDP reclaimed the governorship, won two senatorial seats, five House of Representatives seats, and 16 seats in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
“We confronted the then ruling party not with bitterness, but with conviction that Plateau State deserves better service,” he stated.
Hassan described Governor Mutfwang’s administration as a model of effective governance, peacebuilding, and accountability, saying, “His leadership has set a new standard, and we will continue to support his efforts to move Plateau forward.”
He urged members to remain united despite recent defections, assuring that “a stronger and more united PDP will soon emerge.”
The outgoing chairman also congratulated the incoming state executive ahead of the party’s congress scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, urging them to consolidate on the foundation of unity laid during his tenure.
