A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on three of the seven terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Presiding Judge James Omotosho cited prosecution evidence, including video interviews in which Kanu allegedly made violent threats against Nigeria and its citizens, as the basis for the conviction.
The ruling comes after a long-running trial marked by procedural disputes and Kanu’s previous disruptions in court. The judge determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to secure conviction on the three terrorism counts.
