NLNG and NCDMB Partner with NCAT Zaria for Aviation Training Strengthening

This support is critical, given NCAT’s pivotal role in supplying skilled professionals to Nigeria’s regulated aviation sector, which demands precision, safety, and top-tier professionalism.

In a significant move to boost aviation training standards in Nigeria, the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) paid a working visit to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, on July 24, 2025, as part of an Institutional Strengthening Initiative.

This visit follows an initial needs assessment visit conducted in August 2024, setting the stage for a strategic collaboration between NCAT, NLNG, and NCDMB.

The partnership marks a major milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s aviation training capacity, particularly in areas of infrastructure development and equipment upgrade, with a clear objective of elevating the quality of aviation education and professional training in the country.

NCAT Zaria, formerly known as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre, was established by Act No. 31 of 1964 through a joint programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

Since 1974, the Nigerian government has fully managed the College, and a new Act of 2022 now empowers NCAT to offer academic qualifications in addition to professional training.

Accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), NCAT is recognised as a leading aviation institution, dedicated to producing professionals with technical competence, discipline, and integrity.

For five consecutive years, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has recognised NCAT for producing the highest number of trained instructors worldwide.

Additionally, NCAT holds ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Platinum Excellence status and is one of only four ICAO-designated Training Centers of Excellence in Africa.

During the visit, NLNG and NCDMB reiterated their commitment to supporting NCAT through targeted interventions that include the development of training infrastructure and the modernisation of aviation equipment.

This support is critical, given NCAT’s pivotal role in supplying skilled professionals to Nigeria’s regulated aviation sector, which demands precision, safety, and top-tier professionalism.

This partnership promises to further reinforce NCAT’s standing as Nigeria’s premier aviation training institution, and position it to better meet the evolving demands of the global aviation industry.
