NIPCO Gas Limited has been honoured with the Most Integrated Gas Company of the Year 2024 award by Energy Times, one of Nigeria’s leading energy publications. The award was presented during the Energy Times Awards ceremony held in Lagos, celebrating excellence and innovation in the energy sector.
The prestigious award recognises NIPCO Gas’s pioneering role in promoting natural gas as a sustainable and economical alternative fuel for both motorists and industries. Through its widespread deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) solutions, the company continues to lead the way in clean energy adoption across Nigeria.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Managing Director/CEO Nagendra Verma, Lawal Taofeek, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, expressed sincere gratitude for the recognition. Verma reaffirmed NIPCO Gas’s unwavering commitment to expanding the natural gas market through massive infrastructure investments.
“This honour reinforces our commitment to sustainable energy solutions,” said Mr Verma. “It aligns perfectly with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes compressed natural gas as a cleaner and more affordable energy source.”
Verma also noted recent achievements, including the granting of Gas Distribution Licenses (GDL) under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). These licenses cover strategic areas such as Lekki, Ibadan, Kara, Ibafo, Abeokuta, and Benin City, boosting investor confidence with a 25-year exclusivity period.
NIPCO Gas’s success has been supported by collaboration with key stakeholders including NGML, PCNGI, NMDPRA, and various federal agencies, fostering a united effort in advancing Nigeria’s energy agenda.
Beyond infrastructure, NIPCO Gas has played a key role in building local capacity, training Nigerians in modern gas processing and vehicle gas conversion technologies, which contribute to national economic growth and energy independence.
This award adds to NIPCO Gas’s growing collection of accolades, including recognition from the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) and the inaugural Energy Times Awards in 2023. With this latest achievement, NIPCO Gas has further solidified its standing as a trailblazer in sustainable energy and a driver of economic development in Nigeria.
