Nike has announced a series of price increases on selected sneakers and apparel, citing regular evaluations of its business as part of its seasonal planning process. According to a statement from the Oregon-based company, sneakers priced between $100 and $150 will see increases of up to $5, while those costing over $150 may face hikes of up to $10.
However, the price adjustments will not apply to children’s products, items under $100, Air Force 1 sneakers, or non-shoe items from the Jordan line. In addition, Nike confirmed that increases on other apparel and equipment would range from $2 to $10, depending on the product.
The company explained that its pricing decisions are influenced by a variety of factors, including manufacturing costs, market conditions, and currency fluctuations. “We regularly evaluate our business and make pricing adjustments as part of our seasonal planning,” Nike said in a statement.
Nike, which manufactures the majority of its products in China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, also addressed the issue of tariffs. Currently, most countries are subject to a 10 percent baseline tariff, but products imported from China face a much higher levy of 30 percent. Despite the ongoing tariffs, Nike clarified that the price hikes are based on a broader range of factors beyond just tariff impacts.
This move comes as Nike continues to navigate the complex global supply chain and fluctuating trade policies, ensuring it remains competitive in the ever-evolving sneaker and apparel market.
