Nigeria’s Aviation Stakeholders to Convene on Hub Status and GDP Growth

ASRTI hosts event in Lagos to explore aviation hub status and allied sector contributions to national economy

Stakeholders in Nigeria’s aviation industry are set to converge at Golfview Hotels & Suites for the 2026 Quarter 1 Business Breakfast Meeting (BBM) of the Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI) on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Themed “Boosting Aviation Sector Contribution to GDP: The Importance Of An Aviation Hub,” the event will examine how achieving hub status can enhance Nigeria’s aviation sector and the potential impact of aviation allied businesses on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, will deliver the lead paper. The meeting will feature two panel discussion sessions with prominent industry leaders.

Panel members include:

1. George Uriesi, CEO, Ibom Air Limited

2. Wale Babalakin, Chairman, Bicourtney Aviation Services Limited

3. Capt. Ado Sanusi, Managing Director, Aero

4. Djamel Muradov, Air France/KLM

The second panel will feature leaders such as:

1. Thomas Ogungbagbe, CEO, CITA Aviation Fuelling

2. Segun Musa, GMD, Widescope International Group

3. Motayo Williams, Director, Nigerbird Engineering Limited

4. Damilola Ogunseye, Chairman, International Airlines Operators Committee

5. Dr. Seinde Fademi, Chairman, NAHCO Plc and LSG Skychef

Managing Directors of AVSATEL Communications and Dominion Air will also participate on the allied business panel segment.

Since its inception in 2015, the quarterly BBM has been influential in driving industry improvements, including airport development, airline management, air safety, infrastructure, aircraft maintenance, corporate governance, aviation security, privatization, passenger facilitation, and regulation.
