The registrar also highlighted disruptions in Adamawa State, where communal clashes in Lamorde LGA affected eight schools and led to the postponement of 13 subjects across 29 papers.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE internal), 54 days after the last written paper.

Announcing the results on Wednesday in Minna, Niger State, NECO Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed that out of the 1,358,339 candidates who sat for the June/July examination, 818,492—representing 60.26 per cent—scored five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.

He further disclosed that 1,144,496 candidates, representing 84.26 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of Mathematics and English. A total of 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females, with 1,358,339 eventually sitting for the tests.

Wushishi noted a decline in malpractice cases, stating that 3,878 candidates were caught in 2025 compared to 10,094 in 2024, marking a reduction of 61.58 per cent. He added that 38 schools across 13 states were involved in mass cheating, while nine supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding malpractice, poor supervision, and misconduct.

The registrar also highlighted disruptions in Adamawa State, where communal clashes in Lamorde LGA affected eight schools and led to the postponement of 13 subjects across 29 papers. Arrangements are underway with the state government to conduct examinations for the affected schools.

On state-by-state performance, Kano topped the chart with 68,159 candidates (5.020%) scoring five credits and above, including Mathematics and English, followed by Lagos with 67,007 (4.930%) and Oyo with 48,742 candidates. Gabon recorded the lowest performance, with no candidate achieving five credits and above, including Mathematics and English.

Wushishi also confirmed that NECO has streamlined its examination subjects to 38 under the revised national curriculum, a move aimed at reducing result processing time.

The 2025 SSCE was held between June 16 and July 25, 2025, and marked a key phase in NECO’s transition from the traditional paper-pencil test to a computer-based test model, already being piloted in select schools.
