The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) will conduct its annual Search and Rescue (SAR) Simulation Exercise on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
A pre-exercise debriefing held today brought together major players across Nigeria’s aviation and emergency response sectors to review preparations. The session allowed participating organizations to present readiness reports and align on coordinated response strategies.
Among the key agencies in attendance were the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Nigerian Air Force, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigeria Police Force, Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Federal Road Safety Corps, SAHCO, Air Peace, Max Air, and local community leaders.
Officials from all participating bodies emphasized their unwavering commitment to aviation safety and robust emergency response capabilities.
The SAR simulation exercise is a core element of Nigeria’s aviation safety protocol. It is designed to test operational preparedness, enhance inter-agency coordination, and sharpen response times in the event of real-world aviation emergencies.
NAMA says the exercise reflects its ongoing commitment to upholding international standards in airspace safety and ensuring Nigeria’s readiness for aviation-related emergencies.
