The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has achieved a major milestone in its efforts to strengthen air traffic management and capacity building with the official certification of its Air Traffic Control (ATC) Simulator by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The certificate was formally presented to NAMA Managing Director/Chief Executive, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, by the Director of Air Traffic Control, Mr. John Tayo, at an event that underscored the importance of innovation in aviation safety and training.
Mr. Tayo commended the Local Management at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) and the Department of Technical Evaluation and Manpower Development under the Directorate of Air Traffic Control for their critical role in achieving this success.
Receiving the certificate, Engr. Umar expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts behind the achievement, noting that the certified ATC Simulator would: Strengthen manpower development, Enhance operational efficiency, Improve safety within Nigeria’s airspace
He stressed that the certification represents a significant step towards global best practices in air traffic management and aviation training.
This development is expected to boost confidence in Nigeria’s aviation sector, ensuring that air traffic controllers receive world-class simulation training in line with international standards.
