Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year for 2025, making history as the first player to win the award three times.
The announcement was made on Tuesday via the PFA’s official website.
Salah, 33, was instrumental in Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning campaign, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals and 18 assists. His performances also earned him the 2024-25 Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards, completing a remarkable treble of personal accolades.
Reflecting on his journey from humble beginnings to football superstardom, Salah said:
“Of course I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt. When you grow, you start to see things differently and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture.”
Other nominees for the PFA award included teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was named PFA Young Player of the Year, and former England manager Gareth Southgate received the PFA Merit Award for his contributions to football and his achievements with the national team.
Salah’s latest triumph cements his place as one of the greatest players in Premier League history, further underlining his legacy at both Liverpool and world football.
