Mohamed Salah will miss Liverpool FC’s trip to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday due to a muscle injury, dealing a significant blow to manager Arne Slot.

The Egyptian forward was forced off during Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday, a match that secured their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Salah, 33, had recently rediscovered his form, scoring in three of his last four starts following a brief dip. However, Slot confirmed at his pre-match press conference that the forward will not be available for selection.

“It’s unusual,” Slot said. “As a result of that, I think you can expect the outcome. So, he’s not available for tomorrow.”

The Liverpool boss did not provide a clear timeline for Salah’s return but expressed optimism that the forward could recover quickly, especially with the upcoming international break providing time for rehabilitation.

“The good thing for Liverpool is that we go into an international break,” Slot added, noting that Salah will also miss Egypt’s fixtures during that period.

Despite his importance to the team, Salah has scored just five goals in the Premier League this season, a sharp contrast to his 29-goal tally during Liverpool’s 2024/25 title-winning campaign.

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the league table, two points behind Aston Villa, as they push for a top-four finish and qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Slot also admitted his side have struggled with finishing, despite creating numerous chances in recent matches, including a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Looking ahead, Liverpool face a crucial run of fixtures, including an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City and a Champions League quarter-final showdown with defending champions Paris Saint-Germain.
