The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has reiterated the federal government’s commitment to economic growth through tourism and the creative sector during a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Musawa, accompanied by officials from her ministry, toured the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) — a facility she described as an architectural masterpiece. The visit, she said, was part of an ongoing nationwide research aimed at uncovering and promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural and creative assets.
Musawa also noted that under the Renewed Hope Culture and Creative Project, the federal government is developing the Abuja Creative City as well as other creative cities across the country. These projects aim to position Nigeria’s creative industries as a key contributor to national development.
She further disclosed that the ministry has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several states, including Ogun State, to foster tourism and cultural collaboration.
Reflecting on personal ties, the minister fondly recalled the historic camaraderie between her late father and Obasanjo, stating, “They were in the trenches together a long time ago.”
