Manchester United are reportedly preparing to reignite their pursuit of Wilfred Ndidi this summer, with discussions of a potential player-plus-cash deal involving goalkeeper Altay Bayındır gaining traction.
With Casemiro expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, United are seeking a defensive midfielder and have identified Ndidi as a prime candidate. The Super Eagles captain joined Beşiktaş J.K. from Leicester City for €8 million and has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Ndidi’s strong performances in Turkey attracted attention from United during the January transfer window, but Beşiktaş blocked a mid-season move, citing concerns over squad stability. Talks resumed earlier this year, but the Istanbul club opted to retain the 29-year-old midfielder.
Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who has worked with Ndidi, reportedly advised the club’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, to pursue the Nigerian international. Although INEOS were initially hesitant to proceed in January, the club is now reconsidering the move to ensure continuity in the defensive midfield role.
Beşiktaş are also reportedly open to negotiations, as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options under manager Sergen Yalçın. While the Turkish side previously resisted selling Ndidi, they may now consider a deal if the financial terms are favourable.
A return to the Premier League would represent a major step for Ndidi, bringing him back into the global spotlight after a brief but impactful stint in Turkey.
