Flouncy skirts, sculptural ruffles, and oversized Peter Pan collars dominated the runway at Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday.
Set in the former apartments of Queen Anne of Austria at the Louvre, the show evoked a sense of intimacy, with models gliding to an airy jazz soundtrack narrated by Cate Blanchett.
Hollywood stars Emma Stone and Zendaya graced the front row, adding star power to the elegant affair.
Departing from the darker theatrics of the label’s May Cruise collection, longtime creative director Nicolas Ghesquière presented a gentler aesthetic with flowing tunic-inspired garments, turban-like headpieces, and iconic LV staples like “Speedy” bags and colorful pochettes.
“The atmosphere I wanted to share was really that serenity one feels when in the comfort of one’s home,” Ghesquière explained.
This Paris Fashion Week carries heightened significance, with around ten major brands—including Chanel, Dior womenswear, Balenciaga, Loewe, and Jean Paul Gaultier—introducing new creative directors. The wave of appointments reflects both a push to spotlight younger talents and efforts to reinvigorate demand amid slowing global luxury sales.
Luxury houses face mounting challenges: declining demand in China, U.S. tariffs on exports, and global economic uncertainty.
Later in the day, collections from Dries Van Noten, Courrèges, and Stella McCartney are also scheduled to hit the runway, adding to an already packed fashion calendar.
