The Lagos State Police Command has intervened in the growing controversy surrounding Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, following multiple allegations involving his ex-wife, an actress, and other former church members.

The development follows a series of public accusations that surfaced late last year. Actress Doris Ogala had accused Pastor Okafor of reneging on promises of marriage, alleging emotional distress and claiming the cleric had prior knowledge of her brother’s death.

Separately, the pastor’s ex-wife, Bessem, accused him of subjecting her to physical abuse, while strongly denying allegations of adultery levelled against her by Okafor.

The mounting accusations reportedly led Pastor Okafor to step aside from his ministerial duties for one month. Since then, further sexual allegations have circulated widely on social media, escalating public concern and prompting police intervention.

Confirming the development, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the allegations.

According to her, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, has been directed to handle the matter.

“The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, in connection with allegations of multiple rape, other sexual offences, and several other conducts likely to cause breach of public peace and breakdown of law and order in the state,” Adebisi said.

She disclosed that Pastor Okafor has been served with a formal police invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to report at the SCID, Panti, on Monday, January 5, 2026, by 10:00 a.m.

Adebisi added that CP Jimoh has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCID to conduct a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the allegations.

She further assured that adequate security measures have been put in place for the alleged victims.

“The identity of the victims will be absolutely kept confidential and protected. Any person(s) who may have fallen victim are encouraged to report their complaints to the SCID. Likewise, anyone with credible information relevant to the investigation is urged to come forward without fear,” she said.

The police spokesperson stressed that the Lagos State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring that all criminal allegations are investigated professionally, regardless of the status of those involved.

“Justice must prevail,” Adebisi said.
