The Lagos Country Club has honoured Segun Shonubi with its 2025 Outstanding Resource Person Award, in recognition of his contributions to the club and his broader professional impact.

According to a statement by the club, the award was presented at its 2026 New Year’s Party, an event attended by prominent personalities. The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Special Guest of Honour.

Presenting the citation, President of the Lagos Country Club, Seyi Adewunmi, said Shonubi was selected for the honour for embodying the core values of the institution through dedication and selfless service.

“Mr Shonubi was singled out for the honour for exemplifying the institution’s core values through his unwavering dedication and selfless service, qualities that fundamentally advance the ideals of the Lagos Country Club,” Adewunmi said.

Shonubi earned the recognition largely for his leadership as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, where he led initiatives that strengthened the club’s engagement and public influence.

The club noted that under his leadership, the committee revived the Lagos Country Club Business Forum, which had been inactive for over a decade, and repositioned it as a platform for thought leaders to exchange ideas on national development and economic stability.

The citation also highlighted his role in initiating strategic engagements with political leaders, senior media executives and captains of industry, efforts credited with expanding the club’s relevance in national conversations.

Describing him as a seasoned professional, the Lagos Country Club said Shonubi previously served as Director of Membership Services and later retired as Director of Capacity Building, Certification and Standards at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

He currently serves as an Executive Director at FIC Professionals Network Limited, where he is involved in advancing Nigeria’s financial inclusion ecosystem.

Shonubi is married to Justice Adenike Shonubi of the Lagos State High Court.
