La Liga: ‘I Am Enjoying Football at Barca,’ Rashford Eyes Permanent Move

English forward Marcus Rashford hints at a permanent switch to Barcelona, saying he’s rediscovered his joy for football in Spain.

England international Marcus Rashford has revealed his delight at playing for Barcelona, as the on-loan forward edges closer to making his stay at Camp Nou permanent.

The 27-year-old winger joined the Catalan giants on loan from Manchester United in July 2025, with Barcelona holding an option to make the deal permanent for £28 million — significantly less than the £40 million United would demand from other suitors.

Despite being under contract with Manchester United until 2028, Rashford’s future at Old Trafford appears uncertain, particularly under manager Ruben Amorim, who has opted for a new attacking setup.

“I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it is an honour,” Rashford told ESPN when asked about his time in Spain.

When pressed on whether he would like to stay beyond the current season, Rashford replied confidently, “For sure.”

The English forward has found form since arriving in La Liga, scoring five goals in 12 appearances, including a brace against Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Rashford’s resurgence comes after a successful six-month loan spell at Aston Villa last season, where he rediscovered his rhythm under Unai Emery.

As he prepares for his first-ever El Clásico against Real Madrid this weekend, Rashford believes the move to Spain has rejuvenated his passion for the game.

“People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. So sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me, and I’m enjoying everything,” he added.
