The Kogi State Government has expressed satisfaction with the remodelling of LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School, Onyunkoko, in Okene Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Lokoja, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, described the project as a clear demonstration of Governor Ahmed Ododo’s commitment to providing modern and inspiring learning environments for pupils across the state.
Fanwo explained that the present administration is determined to consolidate the progress made in educational infrastructure by the previous government. According to him, the remodelling effort aligns with the government’s broader policy of structural standardisation in public schools throughout Kogi State.
He noted that the newly upgraded school is designed to ensure that pupils learn in safe, beautiful and conducive environments.
“The newly remodelled school reflects the government’s broader policy of structural standardisation in public schools across Kogi, aimed at ensuring pupils learn in safe, beautiful and conducive environments,” he said.
Fanwo added that the government remains passionate about restoring confidence in the state’s education system through continuous investment in infrastructure.
He stressed that offering free education in poorly maintained facilities would undermine the future of the state’s children. According to him, the government is committed to restoring the era when public schools in Kogi were known for their quality structures and orderly environment.
“The remodelling of LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School is part of a statewide effort to reposition the education sector. The government has also introduced free education for pupils and bursary support for students in tertiary institutions,” Fanwo stated.
While acknowledging that some school facilities in the state had suffered years of neglect, the commissioner assured that the administration is addressing the challenge through a systematic approach.
He said the transformation seen in the school reflects the government’s determination to rehabilitate aging infrastructure and modernise learning spaces.
“The smiles on the pupils’ faces reflect their excitement and renewed pride in their school,” Fanwo said, adding that the administration remains committed to ensuring every child in Kogi has access to free education in a dignified and supportive learning environment.
