Kebbi Governor Confirms Release of 24 Abducted Schoolgirls Without Paying Ransom

Federal and state governments rely on security agencies’ efforts to secure freedom of abducted students.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has confirmed the release of the 24 abducted schoolgirls of Comprehensive Secondary School, revealing that no ransom was paid for their return.

Governor Idris stated that the schoolgirls regained their freedom through a non-kinetic approach adopted by the Federal Government.

“No ransom was paid. The Kebbi State Government did not pay a kobo, and neither did the Federal Government. The rescue was achieved solely through the efforts of the security agencies,” he said.

Idris added that the girls are scheduled to be returned to their parents on Wednesday. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his concern and for directing security agencies to ensure the safe release of the students.

The governor’s confirmation underscores the government’s reliance on coordinated security operations in handling abduction cases without financial negotiations.
