Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and his supporters that their entry into the All Progressives Congress is a partnership aimed at building a stronger and more effective Nigeria.

Shettima gave the assurance on Monday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, while formally receiving the governor and his supporters into the ruling party on behalf of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Addressing a large crowd at the Mahmud Ribadu Square, the Vice President said the governor’s move reflects a commitment to strengthening democracy through responsible leadership and shared national goals.

“You are not strangers to this house. You are partners in a shared mission—to build a nation that works, a democracy that delivers, and a future that rewards the aspirations of our people,” Shettima said.

He described democracy as a “marketplace of choices,” noting that the APC under President Tinubu has demonstrated progressive leadership and remains a platform trusted by Nigerians.

Shettima added that the growing number of political figures joining the APC shows that Nigerians are drawn to structure, vision, and a party that understands governance.

He also commended Governor Fintiri’s performance in Adamawa State, citing improvements in infrastructure and public services as evidence of purposeful leadership.

Also speaking, APC National Chairman Nantawe Yilwatda praised Fintiri’s achievements, particularly in road construction, education, and healthcare, describing him as a valuable addition to the ruling party.

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau noted that the governor’s decision to join the APC would strengthen political collaboration and align Adamawa State with the mainstream of national politics.

Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the APC remains committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, adding that Fintiri’s entry would further drive development in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Fintiri said his decision to join the APC was driven by the need to align with the policies and programmes of President Tinubu, which he said are already placing Nigeria on a path to recovery.

“Mr. President has done so much and has put the country on a recovery path… we have come with a good number to support him and support the APC to win the 2027 elections,” he said.

The governor also reiterated his support for the continuation of power in the South, urging Nigerians to back President Tinubu to complete his eight-year tenure.

The event featured the symbolic presentation of the APC flag to Fintiri as the party leader in Adamawa State.

Meanwhile, following the ceremony, Vice President Shettima paid a courtesy visit to the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, where he reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to preserving traditional institutions.

The monarch, in response, commended the leadership of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their dedication to national development.
