Kachikwu Alleges Peter Obi May Exit ADC Coalition

“Someone like Mr Peter Obi now understands that the whole coalition was packaged for Atiku Abubakar… He is looking in other directions,” Kachikwu said.

Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has alleged that Peter Obi is considering leaving the newly formed opposition coalition under the ADC, claiming it has been hijacked to support Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential ambition.

Obi, who contested under the Labour Party (LP) in 2023, recently joined the ADC coalition alongside other opposition figures. However, just two days after the launch, he declared his intention to run for president again in 2027, while still holding his LP membership.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Kachikwu accused opposition leaders—especially Atiku—of turning the ADC coalition into a political tool for personal gain.

“Someone like Mr Peter Obi now understands that the whole coalition was packaged for Atiku Abubakar… He is looking in other directions,” Kachikwu said.

He reiterated that the ADC would not serve Atiku’s ambitions, pledging to expose what he described as “class exploitation” in Nigerian politics and to educate citizens on their democratic rights ahead of the 2027 elections.
