The President of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, has congratulated the newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, describing his elevation as a testament to professionalism, competence and integrity in national service.
Disu, who previously served as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, gained international attention in 2022 when he won a silver medal at the 33rd US Open Judo Championship in Brookline, Massachusetts. The competition featured over 500 veteran participants from across the world.
In a statement, Oshodi praised Disu’s distinguished service record and leadership qualities, noting that his appointment reflects years of dedication within the Nigeria Police Force and contributions beyond law enforcement.
“On behalf of the board and the entire family of the Nigeria Judo Federation, I warmly congratulate Mr Disu, who also served meritoriously as a member of our immediate past board, on this well-deserved appointment. The decision by Bola Ahmed Tinubu to entrust this critical office to a core professional is both reassuring and commendable,” Oshodi said.
He expressed confidence that Disu’s tenure would strengthen public trust, improve operational efficiency and promote deeper community engagement within the force.
The NJF president further emphasised that strong and accountable institutions are vital to national progress, adding that effective policing plays a crucial role in youth empowerment, social stability and the continued growth of sports development in Nigeria.
Oshodi concluded by wishing the new acting IGP a successful and impactful tenure, expressing optimism that his leadership would usher in reforms reinforcing discipline, professionalism and citizen-focused policing.
