The JCI Abeokuta medical outreach has once again delivered free healthcare services to residents in Ogun State.
Junior Chamber International Abeokuta Hills held the 6th edition of its annual Carnival of Love Medical Outreach at the weekend. The event took place at the Amphitheatre of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.
More than 100 beneficiaries attended the programme. They received free medical services focused on preventive healthcare and early detection of common illnesses.
Free Health Screenings and Consultations
Participants underwent several health checks, including:
- Blood pressure screening
- Malaria testing
- Blood glucose tests
- General medical consultations
Health professionals also offered medical advice and practical health education. They shared tips on healthy living, disease prevention, and lifestyle management.
For many attendees, the outreach was more than a routine check-up. Several participants were found to have elevated blood pressure. Blood glucose tests also identified individuals who required further medical evaluation.
On-the-spot malaria testing allowed for immediate diagnosis and guidance on treatment where necessary.
Commitment to Preventive Healthcare
Speaking at the event, the President of JCI Abeokuta Hills, JCIN Amb. David Iyanda, stressed the importance of preventive healthcare.
He explained that early detection remains one of the most effective ways to reduce long-term medical complications. According to him, taking healthcare services directly to communities helps bridge gaps in access to basic medical care.
Strengthening Community Bonds
After the medical outreach, the event transitioned into a bonding session for members and guests. The atmosphere reflected the spirit of Valentine’s Day, with fellowship and unity taking centre stage.
Participants praised the initiative for combining healthcare services with social engagement. The bonding session strengthened relationships and reinforced a shared commitment to community service.
Over the years, the Carnival of Love has grown into a flagship humanitarian project of JCI Abeokuta Hills. The 2026 edition once again highlighted the organisation’s dedication to sustainable community development in Abeokuta and surrounding areas.
