The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared that the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election is a “done deal.”
He made the declaration in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), led by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Hon. Bayowa Foresythe, who presented a letter of appreciation from the group’s National Director General, Hon. Bisi Yusuf.
Tunji-Ojo reiterated his commitment to supporting grassroots mobilisation and initiatives aimed at consolidating the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration. He cited the President’s “overwhelming grassroots support across the country, particularly in Ondo State,” as the foundation for a certain 2027 victory.
“We must put in our best to support Mr. President. I cannot sit in Abuja and fail to extend support to my people in Ondo, whether through grassroots mobilisation, party activities, or programmes that ease the suffering of the people. Support groups like GMT create a platform to harness that goodwill. In the end, it is about votes and every single vote counts. President Bola Tinubu would win the 2027 general election,” the Minister said.
He also underscored the importance of synergy between government, party structures, and independent support groups, noting that many Nigerians support Tinubu “out of conviction, not just party loyalty.”
Hon. Foresythe, speaking on behalf of GMT, appreciated the Minister for his consistent backing of the group’s activities in Ondo State. He praised Tunji-Ojo’s moral and financial contributions, including sponsorship of the ongoing Jingi Asiwaju free medical outreach across the state’s senatorial districts.
Foresythe also highlighted the Minister’s efforts in amplifying Tinubu’s achievements nationwide through media campaigns in major newspapers and TV platforms.
“We thank you for making Nigerians proud with the remarkable turnaround in the Ministry of Interior under your watch. Today, citizens can obtain passports with greater ease, and that is a legacy worthy of recognition,” he added.
The Ondo GMT leadership, led by Hon. Yusuf-Ogunleye (former Commissioner for Works) and Hon. Rasheed Badmus (former Commissioner for Natural Resources), was also commended for its steadfastness and commitment to sustaining grassroots support for Tinubu.
