The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported a significant increase in voter registrations during the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with 1,228,648 Nigerians completing the process in Phase II as of February 13, 2026.
According to an official update on INEC’s X handle, the figure represents a jump from 884,737 recorded at the end of Week Five. Of the newly registered voters, 673,124 began with online pre-registration, while 555,524 completed the process physically at designated centres.
By state, Jigawa leads with 98,698 registered voters, accounting for 8.03% of the total. Lagos, Sokoto, and Kano follow with 86,307, 77,004, and 71,990 registrants, respectively. Female registrants constitute 57% (696,891) of the total, while males represent 43% (531,757). Youth aged 18–34 make up the majority at 848,066 (69.02%), and 19,414 persons with disabilities have registered nationwide.
The CVR exercise continues nationwide, except in the Federal Capital Territory, where it remains suspended in line with the Electoral Act due to the February 21, 2026, Area Council elections.
Phase II began on January 5, 2026, and is expected to run until April 2026, following Phase I, which ran from August to December 2025 and added approximately 2.78 million voters to Nigeria’s register.
