The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on eligible voters to visit designated registration centres for corrections of personal details and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Bauchi State, Umar Ibrahim, made this appeal during a press briefing on Friday, as the commission resumes the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
According to Ibrahim, the exercise will include fresh registration for new voters, correction of personal details such as names, dates of birth, gender, and addresses, replacement of lost, defaced, or damaged PVCs, transfer of voter registration within or across states, and collection of uncollected PVCs from the 2022 CVR exercise.
He disclosed that online pre-registration commenced on Monday, August 18, 2025, while physical registration will officially begin on Monday, August 25, 2025, at designated centres across Bauchi State.
“Both the online and physical processes will run simultaneously until August 30, 2026,” he said, adding that applicants must be Nigerian citizens, at least 18 years old, not previously registered, and physically present for biometric capture.
The online registration portal is available at cvr.inecnigeria.org, while physical registration will take place at the INEC State Office in Bauchi and at the 20 INEC Local Government Offices between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, excluding public holidays.
Ibrahim noted that the Preliminary Register of Voters would be displayed quarterly for public scrutiny to allow claims, objections, and corrections to ensure only eligible voters remain on the final register.
The REC warned against multiple or underage registration, PVC collection by proxy, and obstruction of officials, stressing that such offences attract stiff penalties under the Electoral Act 2022.
“I call on all eligible Nigerians in Bauchi State to take full advantage of this opportunity. Please register, update your records where necessary, and collect your PVCs. The Commission remains fully committed to ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and inclusive voter registration process,” he said.
