The Accord Party has officially declared Governor Ademola Adeleke as the sole aspirant for its governorship ticket, following his recent defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
This announcement was made in a statement by Ibe Thankgod, Chairman of the Accord Party Screening Committee and National Organising Secretary, who confirmed that Adeleke met all nomination requirements and was cleared as the party’s only candidate. Thankgod described the governor as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” of the party.
The certificate of clearance was presented to Adeleke on Wednesday in Osogbo. Responding, the governor expressed gratitude to the party leadership and the screening committee, affirming his readiness to lead the Accord Party to victory in the 2026 general elections.
“I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke formally joined the Accord Party on Tuesday, a day after resigning from the PDP on December 2, signaling a new chapter in his political career as he prepares for the next electoral cycle.
