Ghana’s Dr. Veronica Mills Urges African Youth to Leverage Tourism for Economic Growth

The Executive Director of the International Young Leaders Foundation encourages youth in West Africa to showcase the Continent’s beauty through innovative Tourism Products

Dr. Veronica Mills, President and Executive Director of the International Young Leaders Foundation, has called on youth in the West African Sub- African region  to take the lead in promoting Africa’s beauty and untapped tourism potential.

In a recent chat with AV1 News, Dr. Mills emphasized the need for youth in the tourism and travel sector to create unique products that appeal to intuitive and adventurous travelers, highlighting Africa as an essential destination.

She noted that tourism could significantly boost a country’s GDP if recognized as a key revenue-generating sector.

Dr. Mills also lauded Nigerian youth for their pioneering efforts in the tourism industry, stating that their innovative strides are shaping the sector positively. An accomplished author and consultant, Dr. Mills has also  written a book on Ghana’s tourism, which has been adopted by the Ghanaian government for use in secondary schools.

Her advocacy for tourism as a driver of economic growth reflects her broader work in business development, project management, and leadership across the continent.

About Dr. Veronica Mills – Lamptey

Dr. Veronica Mills Lamptey is the Founder and Executive Director of the International Young Leaders Foundation, where she serves as a humanitarian benefactor and consultant specializing in project management, business development, and integrated marketing management.

With an MBA in Marketing Management from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a background in business law, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her roles. Dr. Mills is also a certified trainer and life coach, having participated in the Harvard Business School/African Business Conference.

Her legal expertise is further highlighted by her paralegal license from the Law Institute in Ghana. Previously, she worked as a field representative for Reliance Mutual in the UK and is the founder and board chair of Roner Enterprises Ltd.

A respected leader in her field, she served as President of the JCI Africa & Middle East Senate in 2015/2016 and holds the title of JCI International Senator (Senate #72172). Through her work, Dr. Mills is dedicated to empowering young leaders and driving community development initiatives.

Vivian Akinyosoye
Vivian Akinyosoye is a seasoned journalist with a background in English Language and a Masters degree in International Law & Diplomacy. She officially began her career in journalism when she joined Channels Television Lagos Nigeria in 2000.
