The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced special patrol operations to manage traffic and ensure strict compliance with road safety regulations during Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebration.
Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu said in his Independence Day message on Wednesday that the period often witnesses increased human and vehicular movements, making it necessary for the FRSC to step up operations.
“Independence anniversary celebration is one of the events in the FRSC’s operational calendar when we anticipate increased human and vehicular movements to mark the joyous event. Consequently, the Corps normally organizes special patrols to manage the traffic and ensure that motorists conform to traffic rules and regulations,” he explained.
He warned that traffic violators risk having their vehicles impounded, stressing that enforcement is aimed at deterring unsafe practices.
The FRSC boss further urged citizens to mark the celebration with prayers, patriotism, and caution while remaining vigilant to ensure peaceful coexistence.
Although no major national parades or programs are planned this year, the Corps insists safety must remain a priority for all road users.
