Former LP Governorship Candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, Rejoins PDP, Praises Governor Mbah’s Leadership

Edeoga’s Return Signals Unity Ahead of 2027 Enugu Elections

Chief Chijioke Edeoga, the former Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Enugu State, has officially returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Edeoga, a former member of the PDP who has held various positions within the party, including as a House of Representatives member and commissioner for local government affairs and environment, made the announcement during his visit to the PDP secretariat on Monday.

Speaking at the event, Edeoga expressed admiration for Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership, calling it “visionary, innovative, and transformative.” He explained that the Governor’s approach to governance had greatly influenced his decision to return to the PDP.

“I am impressed by Governor Mbah’s leadership, which has inspired me to return to the PDP,” Edeoga said. He also acknowledged that his decision might not be embraced by everyone but emphasized the importance of unity as Enugu State moves forward.

“My decision to return to the PDP may not be appreciated by some, but I believe it is time for us to unite as a family and form a formidable front ahead of the 2027 elections,” he added.

The State PDP Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, warmly welcomed Edeoga back into the fold, praising his return as a testament to Governor Mbah’s “audacious leadership.

” Dr. Chukwunwike expressed confidence that more former party members who had left in the past would soon return, further strengthening the PDP’s position in the state.

“We are excited to have Edeoga back, and we are confident that his return will inspire others to come back and unite for the common good of the party and the state,” Dr. Chukwunwike said.

As the 2027 elections approach, Edeoga’s return to the PDP is seen as a strategic move to solidify the party’s base and present a united front.
