South Africa’s FlySafair has been recognized as the most on-time airline in the Middle East and Africa, according to Cirium’s 2025 On-Time Performance Review.
The low-cost carrier recorded a 91.06% on-time arrival rate across nearly 63,000 flights, surpassing the global industry benchmark. This achievement is particularly impressive amid industry-wide challenges such as staffing shortages and complex airspace constraints.
Although FlySafair’s primarily domestic network excluded it from Cirium’s global rankings, the airline still outperformed several internationally acclaimed carriers in punctuality.
The airline attributes its success to precise scheduling, rapid 30-minute aircraft turnarounds, real-time data utilization, and robust contingency planning. In South Africa’s competitive aviation market, FlySafair’s operational discipline underscores how consistency and efficiency can provide a decisive competitive edge.
