Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport as the “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.”

The renaming still requires approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the completion of rights agreements before it can take effect. The FAA clarified in a statement that while airport name changes are local matters, it must update navigational charts and databases to reflect the new designation.

The airport is located about two miles from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Since returning to the White House in January 2025, Trump has reportedly pursued similar efforts to affix his name to public institutions, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.
